Captain is in your Boat

I always wonder by the thought of meditating the particular portion from Mark 4:35-41. It always brings me a hope, joy and assurance that always the best Captain is present to correct my flaws and steers my life with his wonderful guidance.

The tragedy of titanic is the biggest nightmare of the past century and it will be in the upcoming centuries. It is unavoidable to forget the mistake of Captain E. J. Smith. Smith was sailing his retirement voyage as the Titanic was making her maiden trip. Smith reportedly did not give orders to slow the ship despite reports of icebergs in the water, a common practice at the time. Smith also ignored or discounted a total of seven iceberg warnings from other ships and his own crew. J. Bruce Is may, the Managing Director of Titanic’s parent corporation, the White Star Line, was on board the ship. (http://www.historyofthetitanic.org/titanic-mistake.html)

2000 years ago, the twelve disciples are in voyage with the Greatest Captain of all the time. They believed that they are all knowing sailors and started their voyage. But here comes the several problems. There are many other people started their voyage along with the disciples by believing them that they can make a successful voyage with Jesus. They are coming behind the boat of Disciples in the same direction. After they reached middle into the Sea. The whirlwind started to blow from the four directions. Their boat is started to whirl in the midst of Winds. the balance of the Boat was in trouble. The disciples of the boat are started to lose the control over the Boat. They were asking questions of safety among themselves. The squall turned violent before they can find the way of escape. As the winds are blowing from four directions, the black clouds of fear gripped their hearts and made them fear. The skies of above turned into the heavy populated rainy clouds dimming the light. The feet of the disciples are shaking with the heavy blow of winds. They are desperate and are feared to the aggressive sudden behaviour of the sea. they are helpless, the boats coming behind them are also stuck in the squall. All the people in the boats started to scream with the fear of Death and are waiting for the help from the disciples who themselves are in fear of death. They are unable to sail the boat as the winds became more aggressive and the directions of the boats are unknown. The proud behaviour of the disciples about their skill and talent and the longevity of their boat in danger and confusion. They are aloft failed in controlling their boar. the fear of life and the going toe lone families flashed in front of their eyes and are almost broken heart. They are in the final moments of the life. The last seconds of the life are almost

going to end. They started to count their last seconds they forgot the captain who is in the boat. As the Boat is about to drown because the water was full in the Boat. The disciples woke Jesus and asked "are you not care?" we are about to die. The boat is full of water and the direction of the Boat is Lost. The Another disciple is screaming for life and the another for family. As Jesus was calm and seeing the winds the disciples lost all the Hopes and was taking him "teacher, don’t you care if we drown?" there comes Jesus by understanding their fear and distress and said to the Sea Quite! Be still, because He is not the Captain of Titanic E.J. Smith. Jesus is the creator, sustainer, provider, guide, helper...

The violent winds left the sea. The sea became peaceful.

From the passage, we can understand that four decisions took the Disciples

1. They Acknowledged that Jesus Is in Their Boat

2. They Appealed to Jesus about their cause of Fear and distress

3. They understood and Accepted their limitations

4. They Asked him for help

The true Christian is a helpless human being of this world. He/she will be left with no support from the world. A Christian will be left alone in all his adversaries, problems and difficulties. He/she will not be offered any help neither from the friends nor foes.

He/she must remember that her life is like a boat in the world. No matter what you are on the voyage to heaven. There is no guarantee of peaceful voyage for you in this world. Because the word of God says "“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation.” (1Pet. 4:12-13)

we should always be ready to face the problems, struggle, persecution, difficulties etc., in all the situation do not forget that our Captain is in our boat to help us and steer our lives from the squall we are in and from the upcoming storms. The word of God says “Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name. He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honour him. With a long life, I will satisfy him and let him see My salvation.” (psalms 91:14-16)
